Texas summers are not to be trifled with. The humidity, the heat, and the sun rays beating down cause a lot of Texans a few months of uncomfortable living. On top of that, your bills are all higher because we are fighting 100+ temp ranges with our HVAC units. Good news is… there are ways to help keep your wallet thick.
Check those thermostat settings:
It is recommended that we all keep our thermostats at 75-78 F when you are actually at home. The suggested rule is to raise it by 1-3 degrees when you are away. Some thermostats are automatic and can really help here.
Seal any leaks:
Even if you have to get Flex-tape, seal up the areas around windows, doors, and leaks around vents. Check your weather strips around doors and replace ones that are weathered. Your attic can also contribute to insulation issues if there is a lack of pink clouds up there.
Get some fans:
You gain 4 degrees of coolness with a simple ceiling fan that spins counterclockwise.
HVAC maintenance:
Obviously we would suggest this, but it is genuinely the best thing you can do for your home. Replacing air filters every 2-3 months, tuneup and clean coils, check refrigerant levels, and check for any potential issues. We are happy to help you with this part of the check-list and advise you on the others when we are there. Contact Airtech 512-447-1100 today
