Fall is here and it is time to start preparing your home for the next few months of unpredictable Texas weather. We’ve looked into the most important Fall home maintenance tasks to get you and your home ready for the holidays and weather that comes with it.

1. Programmable thermostats

You could save up to 10% on your air conditioning/heating bill each year if you have one of these. Trust us- they are worth it.

2. Fertilize your lawn

As we know from last year, winter damage can be worse than you expect, so let’s get ahead of it all this year.

3. Reverse all the ceiling fans

During winter, warm air rises up to the ceiling fan while cool air will stay close to the ground. By flipping a switch and reversing your ceiling fan, cool air is forced up, and warmer air is pushed down.

4. Clean gutters

This one is pretty clear- debris can prevent them from working properly; the last thing you want to do when chestnuts are roasting on an open fire- is get out there on a ladder and deal with this.

5. Plant bulbs for Spring-blooming flowers

There are beautiful several Spring-blooming flowers but they must be planted at just the right time during the Fall. Some popular ones are the tulip, iris, daffodil, hyacinth and lily and your local garden can help you find more.
